Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for teaching us wisdom from Your Word. Lord, help me to guard my mouth, and not to think thoughts that cause me to think too highly of myself. I desire to remain humble in Your sight and the sight of men. Lord, I am nothing without You, and the things I do accomplish are simply done by Your grace in my life. Lord, may I also answer softly to those who would try to stir me to anger. Help me to be silent when I should not speak, and to speak up when I should. May my words be like Yours. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Dear Lord God, let us indeed commit ourselves to You - as our loving Father, as our provider, as our anchor in times of storms, and as our compass, showing us Your will and leading us to live more worthwhile lives. Help us to remember the commandment that Joshua gave to the Israelites when he said: "... choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve ... But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."* ... Let us not ask why the world isn't a better place in which to live, but rather let us ask what we can do to make it better. Oh Lord, You are depending on us to do our part to improve our surroundings, but we must also realize that we are dependent on You! Open our eyes to see this, and our hearts to desire a more meaningful relationship with You.
In the name of Jesus we pray.
Amen.

Dear Father,
Thank you, Father, that we have been joined with Christ in his life, death, and resurrection.
Make us realize that we put off the body of flesh in his circumcision, were buried with him in his baptism, and were raised with him in his resurrection.
Give us the faith to see your hand at work in all this and to see ourselves in what happened to him.
Help us to hold fast to Christ, who is our head, in whose name I pray. Amen.
