Prayer for the Beginning of the Day

O Lord, grant me to greet the coming day in peace, help me in all things to rely upon your holy will. In every hour of the day reveal your will to me. Bless my dealings with all who surround me. Teach me to treat all that comes to throughout the day with peace of soul and with firm conviction that your will governs all. In all my deeds and words, guide my thoughts and feelings. In unforeseen events, let me not forget that all are sent by you. Teach me to act firmly and wisely, without embittering and embarrassing others. Give me strength to bear the fatigue of the coming day with all that it shall bring. Direct my will, teach me to pray. And you, yourself, pray in me. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending me a wonderful husband. Let me always be a good and virtuous woman to him. Lord, I pray for all those who are seeking mates, that You will send them the right one for their lives. I also lift up those who have troubled marriages and I ask that You heal them and restore that first love in their hearts for each other. Give them Your Love for each other. Help them overcome selfishness, and heal each of them from the wounds that they have inflicted on one another by their angry and hurtful words. You are the God of miracles, perform a miracle for those who need one in their marriages. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

December 21

Dear Lord Jesus, as I prepare for Christmas this year, help me to resolve to make it Your special day. ... In the midst of all the seasonal bustle, the crowded highways and shopping malls, let me take time out to prepare my heart, as I think of Your birth on that first Christmas in Bethlehem. ... Let me re-read the story of that incredible event when heaven and earth came together to share the glory and the wonder of Your birth on that holy night, and let me read it once again with my family. Help us to make You the center and the reason for our celebration this year.

In Your holy name I pray.

Amen.

Extinguishing Evil

Colossians 3:5-17

Dear Father,

Help me put to death certain things in my life that are earthly - inward evils ranging from impurity to covetousness.

Most of all, may I be rid of covetousness, wanting the applause and possessions of this world, which is really idolatry.

May I extinguish all outward evil ranging from anger to slander and foul talk.

Keep me from everything that is false. Don't let a lie come to my mind or my lips.

In the name of Jesus. Amen.
