Acting Out
"We learn to experience feelings and realize they can do us no harm unless we act on them."IP No. 16, "For the Newcomer"
One thing this reminds me of is using dreams. I was talking to my little sister who is in recovery and she shared how an old timer told her that "Sometimes a dream is just a f###ng dream!" So also are thoughts sometimes just thoughts. I spent a lot of time on the other side of the law. (I need to call my lawyer about statutes of limitations real quick.) Some times I will drive by a house and think, "Wow that place would be easy." Then I think, "Wow, what a crazy thought." It didn't hurt anything and as long as I realize it is a crazy thought it won't . I often check out a chick, even at meetings, but I never let those thoughts become actions that would become inappropriate. What I do is talk to my sponsor about these feelings, and even about my fantasies. What do I wish I had or could do? These are things I can review in my daily inventory. Just for today I will remember that God has given me the power to not act out the thoughts of my broken thinker
