Father of mercy,
Holy God and Father, have mercy and show kindness to those who are in bondage - those who are in prison, those who are enslaved to other people, and those who are enslaved to self and to sin.
Teach us to show genuine hospitality to each other, never keeping score or grumbling, understanding that you, Father, are freely entertaining us in your house, the earth, and feeding us at your table with its bounty. Fill our hearts with love for our brethren and our lips with prayer in their behalf.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with our spirits. In his name I ask. Amen.

For the Blessings of the Past Year
O God, the beginning and the end of all things, Who art always the same, and Whose years fail not, we now, at the close of another year, kneel in adoration before Thee, and offer Thee our deepest thanks for the fatherly care with which Thou has watched over us during the past, for the many times Thou hast protected us from evils of soul and body, and for the numberless blessings, both temporal and spiritual, which Thou hast showered upon us. May it please Thee to accept the homage of our grateful hearts which we offer Thee in union with the infinite thanksgiving of Thy divine Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Who with Thee liveth and reigneth forever and ever. Amen.

Dear Lord, how can I really know You if I don't take time to study Your Word, or to listen for the leading of the Holy Spirit? ... In this coming New Year, help me to spend some time each day in quiet meditation, lest the noise and distractions of my world obscure altogether Your "still small voice."
In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen.
