Grace or Grind
It is God who justifies. (see Rom 8:32)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have tried to be good without coming to Jesus daily and entering into his rest- tried to find fulfillment without surrendering my plans and my troubles up to the Lord. Grinding on alone doesn't work for me.
Every believer knows this trouble. Trying to do it on our own leads to frustration then into anger or discouragement. In the midst of frustration we may ask (more like tell) God, "What do you want from me?????"
By God's grace you already know that the Lord just wants us to give it up. It's not that he needs anything from us- rather he loves us enough to show us how to empty our hands so that we can receive whatever it is that he has for us.
Instead of trying to justify our attitude or our efforts to get satisfaction- we can let it go because God is good enough and we can trust in his love. Let's pray.
Father, thank you for your patience toward us. Thank you for taking us step by step, though we often have complained. Please forgive us and change our hearts.
Help us to surrender- to lay everything down before you, to be poor and weak as we really are, and receive grace to follow you. Amen.
Today's very great and precious promise
All things belong to you,... and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God. (1Cor 3:21,23)
We have God's Word on it.
