Every since I stopped drinking I can't seem to sleep at night. For some reason I thought since I got out of the hospital my nerves were getting bad. But I realized that I always had several drinks before I went to bed. This is hard for me right now, but I will endure, because I don't want to depend on alcohol or sleeping pills. Pray for me?

Pray for me?

God of Donnell,

Show this person what is best, in a way they can understand, as quickly as possible.

Praying....

Some things you can try:

Lots of exercise during the day (not too late in the day).
Reading something calming in bed.
Warm milk, cheese or vanilla ice cream before bed.
Praying, meditation, visualization.
Just get up and do something for a little while.

I had this problem, too, but it does pass.

ASAP - Always Say A Prayer

Hi Donell! Congrats to you on your sobriety!:29:

I've been sober almost one week.
My "sleeping pill" is graham crackers and a glass of milk.
Just before bed, I find something super boring on TV,
and dunk the crackers in the milk.

Also, a hot shower just before bed helps too. Very relaxing.

I have a set time I go to bed, and a set time I get up.
Having that routine is a big help.
