Heavenly Home Here
"If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." (John 15:7)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll call my kids to come in for dinner. But often my words don't stick in their play time preoccupation. So I go out and correct them for not listening and then bring them in to eat.
Jesus promises to do whatever we wish if we are preoccupied with him and if we pay attention to his words in our heart. He has prepared a place for us personally in heaven. But he is busy making heaven at home in us.
Christian, I think that we are often like kids that are being called in to have dinner- our preoccupation allows room to know what Dad wants, but it prevents us from following his lead.
And just like kids, if we don't follow the good Shepherd's word, we forget and get lost in our own interests. Jesus is the cure- let's work with him to make him our preoccupation.
That's a fight we will win if we keep following his word in our heart. Let's pray.
Father, thank you for having everything we need. Help us- remind us to be preoccupied in Jesus our good Shepherd. Thank you for your patience as we grow up to find our rest in you. Open our ears to hear and follow your word. Amen.
Today's very great and precious promise
Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)
We have God's Word on it.
