My name is Reece and I am a grateful alcoholic.
This is my seventh consecutive year of sobriety as of December 20. I started going to meetings in January of 1996. I went out with alcohol in March 1999 and promptly came back in (the next day) at the behest of my loved ones.
I started continued to smoke after that and had a few slips (not with alcohol thank G-d) until I left California on December 19, 2001.
I reset my AA birthday; which I call my spiritual birthday, by the way; for 5 Tevet 5762 by the Hebrew calendar (I am Jewish). This year 5 Tevet was January 1.
I am currently working on emotional violence toward others as a major character defect and decided with the suggestion from my new sponsor (which I haven't had since 1999) that 90 meetings in 90 days would rock! I am currently reworking the 12 steps from the beginning, on, so that I can in turn sponsor someone else. So, if you are a newbie, even people with some time in sobriety can work the steps from one to twelve! Ironically, I have more sobriety than my sponsor :)
I am a professional tarot card reader and amateur Kabbalist. I have remained sober by the grace of G-d and sheer luck (mazal) and also of course by practicing these principals in my daily life and I think it is time I carried this message to the alcoholic who still suffers (tzedakah).
If you are in the Jacksonville, Florida area, please stop by and see us some time at the Westside Club on Lexington.
Thank you for having me. More will be revealed!
