Hi guys. Appreciate the time you are taking to read my new post. I've been standing in Egypt's most famous River for some time, probably because I like Mummies ;o) Seriously though, I'm in trouble. I'm a Binge Drinker and I can't seem to get out of this pattern. Life's been a ***** these last ten years with my father dying very slowy from Dementia (he's my best mate) and my mother's usual toxicity building up. I have a sister but she chose to live overseas to escape the fallout. Can't really blame her but despise her at the same time. Anyhow, life in Australia is sucky, but you guys are suffering more - my heart goes out to you. Take care fellow (whatever label you want to put on yourself) and please welcome me into your family.

Hugs and kisses,

Skippy the Kangaroo XOX

Hi Skippy, my mom was my best friend before she died, it sucks to lose one so close. Welcome to the family and hope to hear more from you. You do not have to drink everyday to have a drinking problem. And yes you can stop any time with the help of others who are like you. ((((((((((((Huggies)))))))))

Hiya Skippy and welcome, nice to see another fellow Aussie!! I too was a binge drinker....Australians are quite well known for their abilities to 'throw a few back'!!

Have you found an AA meeting you can get to?, I live near a small country town and access is difficult for me for meetings so I am an online AA'er!!, found this site over three years ago and between here and another they have been my life-lines!!, I've had a few relapses, but I can promise you it does get better and life can cease 'sucking'!!!!

Getting an sponsor, working the Steps and attending meetings can get and keep you sober!!! and it really is worth the effort!!!! I was at the point of total black-outs with my binges, not pretty. Hang in there bro, and take it "One Day At A Time"!!!

and...keep coming back, there is a wealth of info here and much caring support! You've made a huge admission that you need help!!! Well done!!

G'day Skip! I'm a binge drinker too, not really a daily drinker. But in abstinence, it's still a day by day job for me to stay that way. I'm ten days sober today and have started with AA. Have you seen this site? http://home.vicnet.net.au/~aoig/

Welcome Skippy, You have made a huge admission. we are here for you drop by and share at anytime, a problem shared is a problem cut in half.
Do you have the AA big book, or any pamphlets? I found all i could absorb was a few sentences in the pamplets, it was enough to enlighten me and show me I'm not alone and certainly not unique.. G'day mate.
search these two sites for readings
http://www.aa.org
http://www.NA.org
NA calls them IP's Informational Pamplets I guess,
