I took up a commitment as a secretary to the oldest meeting in my County and I'm seeing that some people just aren't being very cooperative. Most are but the ones that aren't are just plan angry or act put-out. They are great at meetings but ask them to speak and forget it. What the heck???? Where's the example? Well, I guess I can be an example but this is an old-timers' meeting and I want to do a good job so I'm having to talk to lots of old-timers. Well, I was told to go to speaker meetings and talk to speakers after the meeting that maybe they'll be a little more willing. These people are starting to scare me -- are they packing? Hopefully not.....

LOL, no they won't be packing.........yet. They just have to get used to change I would imagine. Bear with it, they'll come around eventually.

Its not you its tough to get people to speak.Unless there like me becousr when I speak I get to talk about my most favorite subject.ME.I like me a good speaker meeting.Keep on and you will get your thing going.I know about2 yrs ago I was asked to speek at one of the most popular friday night speakers meetings were everyone went to,I was scared to death but it went well.Maybe its becouse they are scared of the meeting and how old or the sobreity.Sometimes old timers can actually scare folks off.Not meanning to.My sponsor always told me if I am asked to do somethinf for meeting I am not to refuse. You sound like you are doing a great job to.

Sometime's We have to travel outside our area to find speakers, and speaker's are willing to travel long distance to deliver the message of hope...Suggestion, let people be where they at:15:, You work your program, everybody dont have programs...Because they are oldtimer's do not mean they have an program...CLEAN TIME DO NOT EQUAL RECOVERY:sad:.

No matter which theatre you may find them in and speaking as someone who is rapidly entering the "old timer" category, I offer a thought or two on the subject...
Pay your dues and earn your place.
Be ready when your time comes.
The old timers do die off. :29:
