Farsighted - Long-Term Perspective

For you need endurance, so that after you have done God's will, you may receive what was promised.
Hebrews 10:36, HCSB

This is the era of the quick turnaround. If we can't call tonight and have it on our desk first thing in the morning, we'll call someone else who can. That's the way the world thinks. That's the way the world runs. But that's the way you get yourself into trouble if you're expecting God to cater to your short-term demands.

It's not that He's too busy to work you into His schedule or unconcerned with the time pressure you're up against. It's just that He knows how impatient we can get, how limited our little minds are to the bigger picture of His plan, and how often we'll look back on this season of waiting as one of the most valuable experiences our faith ever endured.

If you can ever come to grips with the fact that God knows exactly what you need, when you need it, and in what measure you need to receive it, you'll be able to shrug off every thought that tempts you to begrudge His timing. After all, we've got a long time to enjoy all the things we've been waiting for.
