This was one of the saying that was said to me, in early recovery. I hated it because i could'nt read that good, and i thougth people in NA knew my secret, I would get so upset to a point of saying ( I do not want to do this anymore ). Now that i have receive the help with my reading, and doing stepwork, Now i understand. I was just FOCUSING on the word stupid, and i did'nt know what the word really ment. In the dictionary stupid means; lacking intelligence; dull-witted; tiresome or annoying, Now this is when i become stupid, is when i dont use the infomation, and the knowledge i was freely giving. SO SOMETIMES I CAN REAL STUPID :15:. I would like to read your KEEP IT SIMPLE MOMENTS ?

I was told that many times also......usually when I was over analyzing...
"Why am I an addict"
"Form a comittee"
"What dogma should my higher power take"
"What if....."

It taught me not to turn NA into some sort of pseudo psycho babble BS. Not to always try to find the "why" in everything, but to accept some things for what they are. That more or newer isn't always better.

In service work, it is the ultimate defense against over eager "resume builders" !

It was early recovery when my brain would try to nit pick and analyze everything..
Keep it simple stupid was a way of saying "Dude your making way to complicated."
So stupid wasnt aimed at lacking intellect more of a nice name to use..
Now when I went to Tennessee bless their Nazi NA hearts they werent so nice ,,,my sponsor would just say "Are you thinkin again????Look where the **** yer at see where your ******* thinkin got ya???You cant make a decision to save yer ass ,,Stop thinkin and start doin .All your thoughts are fukin warped what makes you think yer all of a sudden gonna have a Real good thought with out askin for a second opinion ,,,HMMM?"
That was their way of KISS....It worked juuuuuust fine for my dumb ass//

I was told to KISS alot in early recovery. I still do some, from my sponsor. It seems it has always been because i would make things harder than they are. Complicating it. Nit picking as my sponsor now calls it. I am slowly getting better about it. I am glad its about progress.
Thanks for this thread.

My ass have been fallin off lately.
I have OCPD.
It'll kick in when I experince emotional events in my life.
Mostly relationships challenges. It ties into my abandenment issues, which ties into a lot of un resolves
anger.
When i get this way it's very painful for me. The feelings
are extreemly intense. Then my mind will kick into an obsession mode trying to resolve a problem that can't be
resolved within my mind. if i react to it with my old behavior patterns...such as getting high to cope or escape
it's not a good thing. if I react to my anger in a negative
manner this too is not good or healthy.

Life on life's terms sucks ass sometimes and I have a hard
time accepting the terms or outcome. Wheather the answers are right or wrong ...it dosn't matter.
When my mind gose into compulsion mode, I'm powerless
over it. I can't make it stop.

I have to keep it simple
I have to sit still sometimes or not do anything stupid.
I have to process my emotions , face my fears and not run.
Sometimes I have to get out of myself in these moment
becuase it's too intense for me to bare.
But most of the time I find myself in a fital possition
crying

Simple but not easy to not pick up no matter what
