I came to this site when I was 3 days. I found alot of comfort here, which gave me the courage to go to a meeting. I have a sponsor, I pray, I attend a meeting each day. I am starting the Big Book with my sponsor and she is gentle and wonderful with a good program.
I have struggled on and off throughout the past 18 days. I enjoy my good days but I really don't want to be an alcoholic, not that I want to drink I just don't want to be an alcoholic. I wish I could just stop. I know I can't, I absolutely agree with step 1 but don't like it!!!!!!
Off to the gym, a meeting, work. (15 days ago I was unemployed, I am grateful to be employed).:16::confused:

The First Drink
The first thing I learned that day was that if I never took another drink
I would never have another problem with alcohol. . .
I had never thought about the first drink.
I had schemed and stolen drinks, but it was never the first one.
And here I had a very simple problem -- one drink,
and that's all I was able to understand.

Thought to Ponder . . .
The first drink has the last say.

Hi Deb, congrats on your 18 days! I have 12 days today and I cannot believe I got here. I have been going to meetings pretty much every day. I have a sponsor who is great. The first 10 days was the worse! I was very emotional, crying all the time, and out of focus. I craved a drink on and off. But every time I came out of a meeting, I felt better about my decision to drink. So I did not. I was also very nervous and impatient, even waiting on 2 people line got to me. Praying, relaxation, and meetings is what helped me up until this point. Every day I realize how terrible this disease is...but every day I am getting better.
Keep up the fight! Congrats on the new job!
Bless,
Lola :)
