Hi my name is Valorie and I am an alcoholic and drug addict. I just wrote this long share and I could not post it. It was about ego lol. I have 10 mounths after a 6 year collapse. My sobriety is alot different this time. I appreciate all the posts. It takes a lot to put yourself out there. Even if it is from your home.
Keep the Faith- Valorie

:67: Congrats. on 10 months, Valorie. Please make yourself at home here and look around the board if you have any questions feel free to ask, we are all here to help each other.
I have relapsed twice before, and my last in Jan. 1996 took me to an emotional level that seemed set the stage of a brand new beginning for me. My recovery became something very different for me as well. Glad you are here.:42:

Welcome to the forum Valorie, and congrats on your 10 months clean time! One of my good friends in AA had four years and relapsed, and she can barely put together 60 days. She has warned me: don't ever go back out, it's so hard to get clean again. But you have done it! :29: That is amazing. What's different this time?
It takes a lot to put yourself out there. Even if it is from your home.
I certainly agree with that and identify with your words. I was terrified of opening up in the beginning of my own recovery journey, and frankly an online group was the only place i felt safe to do so --- sorta the anonymity of it all. i have found that it does get a little easier, the more i practice -- especially with loving people like the ones on this board. :42:
With love in recovery,
Frannie, sober by the grace of God since 8/20/05
Valorie, 10 months is great :29:
Frannie, you are so right! I went looking for online help (which I think I found right here  ) because I have fears of saying all this at a public meeting. I'm a drug user who has been clean on and off for 16yrs. This time I know it will be for good. I can no longer hide my addictions from my family and true friends. Unfortunatley it took a night in jail to get me here. Thank God I have a very supporting husband who is a recovering alcoholic (17yrs sober :29: ) he understands my problem and is helping me.

Valorie you cannot do this by yourself. If you are doing the same routine don't expect different results. Get a sponsor and get busy. "Next we launched on a course of vigorous action." Thats from the Big Book. The progam is the 12 steps. The first step tells me I am going to drink. Thank God for 2 thru 12. Action first good thinking later. God bless and pray to be willing.

http://d21c.com/kiddlehopper/12stepgraphics/havefaith.gifHello Valorie,
I apologise, appears I missed welcoming you when you joined us.
I'm Felicity, from Australia. I had 6 years clean of my drug addiction before I finally accepted "I am an alcoholic", and I was one of those well before becoming a drug addict. So I guess in a round about sort of way I had my own relapses!!!.....I am very grateful today to be clean and sober, life on life's terms for me "here and now" is wonderful....I appreciate the ups and downs as they are all part of being alive and living!
I wish you well on your journey and look forward to getting to know you.:42:http://d21c.com/kiddlehopper/12stepgraphics/trust.jpg
