Ego

Ego is the birthplace of your self-will. It’s the incubator in which all of your little selves are hatched. It’s the petri dish in which all the different permutations and combinations of your Self that you present to the world are created. Ego is an internal assembly line that cranks out entitlement, shame, grandiosity, willfulness, intolerance, and judgmentalness, three shifts a day, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty-two weeks of the year.

Ego is the supporting cast member who seeks to impose his will on everybody and everything, insists on going it alone in life, and continually clings to that which does not work. She’s the supporting cast member who honors your fears, plants doubt in your mind, and second guesses the choices you make. Ego’s the voice within that demands proof, has faith only when it’s convenient, and raises procrastination to an art form. He’s the supporting cast member that must be right all the time, insists on making everyone else wrong, yet refuses to practice what he preaches. She’s the energy within that demeans everything you do and say, judges unmercifully who you are and what you’re not, and sabotages your moments of emotional and spiritual well-being.

Ego is the Lord of your character defects and as such must be [re]claimed in order to be transformed. There are higher forms that Ego can transform into. They are merely awaiting your willingness to let go, surrender, and detach from the death grip you maintain on Ego. For in letting go of your reliance on Ego, you can then open up to experience your entire supporting cast members as higher incarnations of who they really are.
