Hi Folks,
My name is Alistair (AL) and I'm an alcoholic, from Glasgow in Scotland, amongst other things. I've been sober now 3 months, and have been looking for an on-line site which I can access on a regular basis e.g. lunchtime at work when 'normal' living is getting on top etc.
I get to about 3 meetings a week and am currently deciding which to join.
I've been around AA/NA for the last 6 years and always seem to keep it together for up to 6 months before I relapse. Usually I've done all the wrong things like stop attending meetings, not joining a group and not getting a sponsor, so its no surprise when things go belly up.

Anyhow this time I'm determined to take advantage of all my previous errors and actually learn from them ! A new concept for me but one I'm willing to give a chance.

I look forward to catching up with my fellow alkies,

hope all is well for you
AL

Hey Alistair and Welcome to our group. Congratulations on 90 days of sobriety! My name is Frannie, I have been in recovery since 8/20/05. I also came around meetings for over a year before I got sober, and I did like you --no sponsor, no homegroup, no working the steps, no change in attitude, no fellowship. i can tell you from experience that sponsoring yourself does not work! Sounds like you are ready for a change and that you are aware of the things that you have not done in the past ... that's awesome, good luck to you. hope you will keep coming back and sharing, this is a great group of folks.

:75: AL, :88: on 3 months! :1: :29: I am very glad to have you join us. It is great that you are aware now of the errora that you have made previously. That was the way it was for me - each time I relapsed I did learn from it. Please make yourself at home here. There is lots of love, support, experience, strength and hope here. Keep coming back and sharing with us.

:66: Al and :45:

:111: on 3 months recovery!!!!!!!:29: :90: Top stuff!!!!!

We have a wonderful supportive group here, I joined in January and it very quickly became my "cyber home", without the caring and giving of my family here and the love of my HP whom I call God, I don't think I'd be where I am at. btw; I'm Felicity, clean d.addict and very grateful recovering alcoholic. I'm from and live in Australia.

Congrats on your courage to keep on trying with your recovery also, I feel that is pretty awesome!!!!.....it is great that you recognise your need for this journey!!!!:1: It's a hard journey sometimes and by gosh it takes effort, however I know that it is so worth it, I am in the middle of a personal crisis, and have felt like an "emotional drunk" recently, and I know that if I didn't reach out for help I'd be back on my rear end, and each time I have I hit it harder and harder, so please "hang in there" and "keep coming back", know that we are here for you and you are not alone in your journey. I wish you well and look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome Alister. I like how international we are becoming.

My Mother was Austrian, my father Wisconsin but his great time ? Grandfather was from Inverness area of scotland. The Hargraves left in 1812.

And we all speak the same language. Recovery through the 12 steps.
