I just decided to myself to register to a site such as this. Perhaps I can offer my moral support to others and vice-versa. We are all not alone, even though sometimes it sure feels that way. I have been an alcoholic all my life, and have found it to be a most frustrating disease to say the very least.
I still fight this battle to this day , which would explain why I've decided to join.

I live in atlanta and although I didn't begin drinking alcoholically, wound up there anyway. I preferred drugs, but that doesn't make me less of an alcoholic. I've found that to be my truth. I never could get clean/sober until I accepted the alcoholism so that is where I focus my recovery. If I can stay away from the booze, it keeps me away from the drugs. Anyway, not to get too wordy in a welcome message. I know you'll come to love it here, as we all have.

Hello pathfinder
I am cassie, grateful recovering alcoholic. Nice to meet you. With the help of the friends on this site, I stay in today and sober, one day at a time. Starting here sets the tone for the entire day. I hope you keep coming back to share and am looking forward to hearing more from you.

Hello to everyone! Thank you for all the nice welcomes.
Just to let you know that I'll make sure I check out this site more often than I have. I hate to say it but I actually need some help and your opinions. Two weeks ago I messed up badly again, I'm the type of alcoholic that falls off the wagon about 2 times a year at most, meaning I can go without alcohol, but get tempted somewhere along the line, with disastrous consequences. I drink about 2or 3 times a year, but the regret and pain is more than I can handle. It always seems to hurt the loved ones also. What a vicious cycle.
so I need to keep reminding myself who and what I am, perhaps coming here on a daily basis in the comfort of my own home would be a good place to start.
Any feedback and comments I would simply and greatly appreciate
Thank-you all very much ..:11:

Hi again and welcome back, Coming here on adaily basis helps me stay sober and reading about those who still suffer keeps me grateful and aware of who I truly am. But for the grace of god there go I. Keep coming back it helps it really does.

Thanks Prescott. It sounds like a good rational approach to this problem of mine. I'll make sure I come here as often as I possibly can. That seemed to be why I failed so many times, because I never really seriously took this disease for what it really is......a disease!!! It sure can be decieving though, I always thought I had the power to control this, but I now have to understand that it's something totally out of my hands, now and always.
Peace

One of my relatives did this for many years. Twice a year usually, but to excess so that he had to be hospitalized each time. My mom and dad took care of him during those times. I lived here - they were in La. After they passed, he binged for the last time. He was found alone on the floor of his bedroom. He was a kind, loving man who never hurt anyone. But alcohol killed him. That is what this disease does.
I don't think I have ever shared this story here - it still pains me to think about it. Your quote by Gallileo is very true. My prayer is that you do find the way to work your program and not have to go back out again.
If I have shocked or offended you in any way with my post, I humbly apologize.
