Good morning all. Just signed up and want to thank you all for being here and for this site. Sometimes we need a meeting when there aren't any scheduled. Been dry for 244 days, but just got a sponsor and decided to get "Sober" last week. What a relief when I decided to give in and actually accept that I couldn't do this on my own. I am powerless over alcohol and my life has become unmanageable. And today, I'm ok accepting that.

Welcome Nifrav8r, so glad you found us! :29: :42:

Congrats on 8 months dry time, that is a big deal, sober or not. :1: :14:

Like Gail said, now that you have made the decision to surrender, the REAL journey begins. :D
"You will find freedom from cares and worries...."You will be able to look the world in the eye"".... And so many many other promises.

I bet you will find sobriety much easier working the steps. :15:

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the wonderful words of encouragement. I agree with all of them. The day I decided to give in and actually "Read" the first step and admit that I was powerless over my addictions, I fell on my knees and prayed like they were my last words. Then I felt this overwhelming sence of peace and strength that I could do it, by the grace of God, not my own will. I know it will be harder at times than it is now, but if I keep praying and doing what I know is right... I'll be ok.

Anyway... thanks again and I look forward to getting to know you all better.

P.S. For Henry... I'm a salesman for a living...but my passion is flying. It means "An I.F.R. Aviator" which means I have an instument rating which allows me to fly in the clouds with no visual refrence to the ground.
