Passivity is a quite understandable reaction to our overshceduled, overdriven, relentless superficial culture. But it is not a healthy one. Not choosing is also a choice that will shape your character as inevitably as any other.
Letting yourself know that you are choosing, making your large and small choices consciously, and taking responsibility for them, are the basics for living well.
Self respect and integrity depend on conscious choosing. Who you are and who you are becoming, depends on what and how you choose.

I spent many a year in recovery not choosing and simply existing and certainly suffering in silence out of fear of chossing and the consequences of that choice, and out of fear of another person's reaction to the choice made. At times I have had to have my back up against a wall or undergone extreme discomfort before a decision or choice is made. I have now learnt that by not making choices I am choosing to stay in the role of victim by failing to assert myself through the vehicle of choice. For me I had to learn how to make choices then I had to learn how to make positive choices that would benefit me. I am still learning and have only just made a crack in the concrete. thats me

For God gave us freewill, his will was going to cost us. Obedience to God, coupled by human nature, leaves not much room for mistakes.
