Self respect, like happiness, lives or dies on how you treat other people - as well as yourself.
If you behave reasonably well most of the time, if you are able to apologise when you have hurt someone and genuinely make amends, if you value 'giving' more than 'getting,' if you are able to learn from your mistakes and move on - then self respect is certainly within your grasp.
