Hello Annabel. My Mom was an alcoholic. She died last year of cervix cancer. My husband is an alcoholic. I know what you're going throu.

Hi Annabel
I am cassie, grateful recovering alcoholic. I suppose I have this disease because of genetics. Both my parents, my sister and a close cousin had this disease. They have been gone a long time.

I have tried to reclaim my future through the 12 Steps and been sober since Sep 2000. I found that most of my own problems were because of ego, selfishness and other character defects that I now work on daily. Yes, my upbringing had much to do with my behavior. But ultimately, I am responsible.

There is lots of strength, hope and experience here with people who share honestly about how they came to arrive at this place. So I hope you stay with us.

Hi there my name is Fi and my father was an alcoholic while my mother was complete lunatic. Growing up in an alcoholic environement had affected me in many ways. Some of those things include not being able to finish things off, Low self worth and value, physical violence, and fear of confrontation. My upbringing left me with the ability to precieve things through the eyes of a victim and needless to say I remained as a victim until I came into recovery. Keep coming back and sharing your story.

Both my parents were alcoholics. My father commited suicide in 1962. I married a drug & alcohol abuser who was abusive to me and my kids. I divorced after 13 years. I've been in recovery since 2/27/87.
