We really ought to throw something in here. Something lite-hearted even would be good. I keep dropping in to see grief, depression & lose. Whatever happened to Happy Joyous & Free.

I have always said that patience is the key, the happy joyous and free part is going to cost you. I never thought I was going to have to abide by my own preachings all over again. As a man with needs and without a partner since the day my wife left me, one day I went out to search for some sort of pressure relief. It was not what I truly wanted and ended up only learning something good from the experience. I spoke to my sponsor and he said "Don't look for it. God will give it to you" As truly needy as I was, I took his advice. Since then I have started a relationship with a young woman which seems to be more than I would have ever expected and much less deserved. For this I spent many a lonely night feeling sorry for myself, which was the only thing I could do as I wait patiently for my sponsors advice.
Life can be good no matter what, even when I don't decide to stay out of God's way.

I agree, but alot of times,I think its the sickness we all have, the secrets, all those things that drive men apart.
We all feel left out and not a part of.
Anything anyof us want to add would be awesome.

bry,I am happy ,joyous ,and free.I am glad to have my life back free of substance abuse,I am joyous to have friends I have found to help support me in my recovery, and I am free of all those old lies I used to get what I needed, and free of the old ways of life and thinking.Being in the program has taught me a new way to live.

:smile:Hi JD here, I havent posted in like forever and I think maybe two posts at most but here I am.

I think this is a great topic!!!
I look at a bunch of forums throughout my day and only post on about
2 regularly and 5 hit and miss like here.
The rest I just read. But its true of all forums seeing a bunch of depression and I have posted a lot of it myself on the regular ones.
Well I am starting to do better finally and see more positive but then I get scared cuz some stuff I am scared its going to offend someone and I have been offended before by someone well-meaning but today I feel like i have grown.

Well for good reason- yesterday celebrated my 5 yrs clean and sober
O plan on celebrating it as long as I can because the day before I went to the doc and I am doing much better physically than in a long time.
I am setting goals for myself too. So often it is hard even with keyboard and mouse to step away from ourselves and try to see positive.

We all say we dont want drama and we even mean it but thats probably a lesson my sponsor taught me my first year hello dont stick your neck out to get stepped on unneccessarily! You got someone who wont quit whining wanting you to tke responsibility for their actions hang up the phone screen calls set boundaries we dont have to be mean to people but we can have boundaries and they are good to have instead of someone stepping on my foot and 5 days later going back and screaming about what they did to hurt us by stepping on our foot! They probably wont even remember it!

I guess Ill close by saying yes we are responsible when ever anyone anywhere reaches out for program I too would hope someone will grab on to my hand if I am feeling like I am slipping .

There are real problems but unless we ourselves take action when the steps are suggested for working through it and remember patience love and tolerance and asserting ourselves we are going to find ourselves still rolling in the mud til we finally see and hear that someone is shout ...the shower is in the corner of the barn use it!

Anyway sorry was so long winded and hope I come back and reread this the next time I feel depressed or down and out
Thanks
JD
