MAKING ALL THINGS NEW
*******************************************
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old
things passed away; behold, new things have come." - 2
Corinthians 5:17 NASB
The beginning of a year provides us a wonderful time to evaluate our
lives and the things we have said and done. As we look back, we might
be gratified by some things we have done, or be ashamed or less
pleased with other things. There may be things we wish we had done
differently.
As we look ahead into the coming year, we have an opportunity for a
new start. For those who need salvation, God offers the opportunity to
begin a brand new life. For "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creature." But even if we are saved, we need to embrace the
opportunity to start again.
All of us can be bogged down by bad habits and the world. We can
commit sins and our flesh can corrupt our thinking. We can be
assaulted by spiritual forces. But through Christ, everything changes.
"Old things," no matter how corrupt, "have passed
away." Everything becomes new! He can forgive all our
sins...free us from guilt and worry...give us the direction
and wisdom we need.
Today, you can have the slate wiped clean. You can leave your burdens
behind. You can start over again and become new in Christ. No matter
how many years you might have been a Christian, you still can be
renewed and allow the "old things" in your life to pass
away.
Ask God to forgive your sins, take away your fears and anxieties, and
renew you in body, soul, and spirit. Start living in the newness of
life that God has prepared for you in Christ.
