Trust
"Oh no, sir," answered the officer. "I do not deserve to have you come into my house. Just give the order, and my servant will get well." - Matthew 8:8
The speaker was a Roman centurion, and he asked Jesus for a cure. He did not ask for the reassuring gesture that would have come from Jesus' physical contact with his son. The method of healing was left up to Jesus. The trust was complete. Jesus marveled at the centurion's faith.
Perhaps our own faith is somewhat different. We ask for God's help and then we tell him exactly how he should go about giving it. We have preconceived ideas as to how God should respond to us. Even with God, we try to remain in control. But did you ever notice that the more you try to control your life, the more out of control it gets?
Lord, I entrust my life and my concerns for others into your hands. I trust you to answer my prayers in the way that is best.
