Authenticating

by Bruce Wadd

I like the word. It has a kind of serious tone to it, like something crucial is happening!

I was logging on to a new website recently, and once the 'submit' button was pressed; I sat watching the screen with this wonderful word – authenticating – and the turning Windows sand timer. Something was going on!

The security protocols were checking the accuracy my username and password. There was nothing I could do except sit and wait if I wanted access.

Building character takes time. Genuineness grows with experience, and it can’t be bought. No, sometimes your sand timer needs to spin, for minutes, hours, days, weeks, months… even years before access is allowed.

And, if you’re like me, it always seems to take longer than it needs!

In a waiting room? Bursting with dreams, but limited by difficulties? Maybe you are being… authenticated? It could take some time!

“For when your patience is

finally in full bloom, then you will

be ready for anything, strong

in character, full and complete.”

James 1:4
