The meetings in my small town are pretty bad, too. But I make sure that I get my recovery, if only on line. I also try to make trips whenever possible to surrounding towns where the recovery is a little better. In my home town there are only 3 of us; myself, my partner, and another gentleman; who come to meetings because we want recovery, all the rest come to get their court papers signed. All we can do is try to spread the message the best we can and seek recovery where we may find it. On-line is a pretty good place to start, as I make more meetings on-line than face to face; but remember that we also need that face to face, if only to remind us how we used to be.

I attend AA and NA. I also live in a smal community.

I was a young when I first came into recovery. I wasn't court
card sent or went through a treatment center.

At 23 attending meetings with a bounch of old farts wasn't really
my couple of tea.

So my grand sponsor ask me to attend NA becuase of the age group
gap in the fellowship in my area. At that time there was only 1 NA
meeting in my local town and another one 15 miles away.

Every now and then I'll hear AA or NA nazi 90 days wonder promoting
or doing a rat race recovey. my program is better than your program..
WTF????.....

I sick and trying to get well....what dose it matter where and
how I get help or get well...

Well...I did the 90 meetings in 90 days thing...
That ment I attended whatever meetings that was available to me.
NA or AA. I also had to talk to my shrink 3 times a week too..lol
I kept it simple like that.
Some people trip out on that...lmao

haha...I still do my 90 in 90 comittment after all these years..
After I get done doing a set of 90 days. I start another 90days commitment.

Sometime you gatta do the best with what you have and be grateful
for that.

I even started attending church again
I even started attending college again
I even attended Al-anon
I even started attending my office or a place of employment again.

Whatever that was helping me and was a positive influence in my life.

Meetings where retarded a lot of time and they're still retarded to me
sometimes..but it's a committment I made to myself...

Don't pick up no matter what.
Attend meetings no matter what.
Love myself no matter what.
Work my recovery program no matter what.

Before taking any action today I will pause to make certain I am fulfilling my expectations not someone else's. God will help me with this task.

I too am having issues with the small town thing...
I am not exactly ready to "put myself out there" either...I have serious concerns about my career here and do not want to uproot the family...yet again...if they find out and are not pleased to discover they have a **** degenerate heathen in their employ...
I'm also in a part of the country where much of the indigenous population feels they are divinely guided to...label, categorize and ostracize said heathens...not outwardly and maybe not even consciously mind you...it just sort of shakes out that way...
...that throws a bit of an extra wrinkle into it as well.
So I understand the concern and have actually been searching for alternatives and/or additives to what I understand today to be my recovery...
