Suboxen Pros and Cons?
Its getting close...I have the script...I am just weary about starting it...my wife doesnt 'really know about my pill isues, other then xanax which I Am prescribed and Don't abuse. I take a 1/2 of .5 2x a day and sometimes a 1/4 at night for sleep.I'm also now on prescribed lexapro. So I AM going to start Suboxne soon, I just to know how people experirences here went.
I guess one of my main concerns is having to be in severe WD to start, although even my Dr says that it doesnt have to be Severe, just have to have Some initial WD..some sweats, runny nose etc., but not to the extreme of absolutely dying...She says...12-16 hours since last dose, and since I snort the pills, the 1/2 life is shorter then if I was swallowing the time released versions..In other words..can I just tell my wife I'm not feeling well etc...have a cold..need to rest, then take my 1rst dose w/out her knowing. The reason IS, is that me and my wife use to party like rockstars...Ima a Wall Street guy, althoo, that biz is Nothing like it was..but i'm barely survivng..very small firm, not ON wall st..BUT, when we were in our 20's(now 39),we'd do as much blow and booze and zannys, even GHB before we found out what it was, and I smoked more weed then Bob Marley, she chain smoked cigs..SHE did give it all up once we got a planned pregnancy..and now kinda gives me crap for drinking etc.. and she is right...One problem Is, even her own parents think she has changed too much and needs a counsler in general..NET NET, this would ne Very bad for me and our marrige if she found out the etrems of it all...I figue I got yself into this mess..I need to be responsible and get myself out. SO...1) How bad WD before starting Subs 2) How long ?...rapid detox or months 3) and tapering OFf the Subs and any other info would be greatly appreciated...I've read so many contrary stories about the stuff and my Dr said , it Defly effects people differntly. TIA

MrSoul, My son's mom got off Lortabs using Suboxone. I don't recall her having hardily any withdraws. Nothing like the times I seen her detoxing from Lortabs. She is so happy she was able to get off opiates with this drug. As we all our! It really is a miracle drug. She hopes to be free of it soon. It doesn't give a buzz ( i took a little piece and felt speedy lol) and taking opiates while on it is useless because it blocks the effects. This drug could help so many addicts if it was cheaper. Thankfully my insurance covers it except for doctor visits.
Suboxone works for alcoholics too. It blocks the pleasure part of the brain so the alcohol doesn't have any effect. You'll be glad you got on Suboxone. Everyone I've talked to are shocked at how good it is for helping treat opiate addiction. It really is a life saver. I don't agree with exchanging habits but for some of us 30 to 90 day treatment is not an option, this chemical treatment aids in recovery. Good Luck! Keep posting and let us know how its going.

I certainly do not believe in a drug for a drug but,,,You need to do what you need to do..
I personally couldnt get on the methadone program cuz I would shoot it and then became a methadone junky over oxy and H..But,,,dtoxing at an older age is not good for the body and neither is lying to the wife hehe.Ive been taught in NA we are not to give advice just experience and the experience is from me,,oxy kick sux, suboxone treatment works for a week till opiate withdrawl is basically gone but then you continue on the medicine instead of stopping as you probably should since the withdrawl is what we are scared of,so in esscence the drug cycle still continues which leads you nowhere really but to anxiety of the withdrawal from it..Its a very tough situation ..I hope you do well and Im glad its you not me cuz I have done my fair share of all that and you remind me of myself haha...Pray and ask god to help you and make a good call on what you think is right...Me personally would confide in the wife get some mild opiates maybe two or three Tylenol 3's take a zanny have the wife know whats going on in case of any problems take a T3 to go to bed each nite for 3 days and grin and bear it with honesty and dignity then go from there with a couple less secrets...But if you may lose your job a 3 day weekend would be nice and of course plenty of OJ and water and a multi vitamin...Then the decision to use or not will ensue....Good luck and I hope you make the best of this situation I will pray for your recovery bro...... My 2 cents for 6am..
