Bruce,
What I did is I went to one of those state clinics that got me diagnosed for Social Security Disability. Nowadays one can draw a check and work to supplement their income. Currently I have the insurance, through them, to supply all my medical needs. I hope that if you can't follow my advice that you get help somewhere. Here where I am from, I used to see a Doctor in Mexico, this guy was cheap, and good.

Hi Bruce, i also go to a state-funded clinic. I have been in the state system since the 90's and since 2 years ago they say i was disabled and had me apply for Social security disability. I am unable to work outside the home at all. My medicare will start this next Febuary. I really suggest that you do seek out a state-funded facility that can help you. Congratualations on 106 days, that is great I know the stresses of being dually-diagnosed. I too take things a day at a time.

The best results I ever got was when I checked myself into a state hospital. They were more thorough and were there to observe me 24hrs day. Then, I did my maintanence through the state clinic. They also helped me with my prescriptions, so they cost me little or nothing at all.

But, starting with the hospital worked better for me than starting at the clinic. Like I said, they were just more thorough, were able to ask more questions and spend more time checking out what I might need.

I was 11 1/2 months sober when I checked myself into that hospital. I absolutely understand what you are saying about every day getting harder. A dual-diagnosis requires a dual-solution. Treating just one sickness just doesn't usually work. The 12 steps won't manage my depression, and my anti-depressants won't get/keep me sober. I must have both.

There should be a state run program near you somewhere. Check it out.
