HIS NAME IS WONDERFUL Thursday - November 15, 2007

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6

In 1955, Christmas fell on a Sunday and Christian songwriter Audrey Mieir sensed it was a special Christmas. She attended Bethel Union Church in Duarte, California where her brother-in-law, Louis Mieir, was the pastor. The church did a Christmas Pageant complete with a teenage girl playing Mary and angels being played by young boys.
After the usual procession of angels, shepherds, Mary and Joseph, the singing of “Silent Night,” Louis suddenly exclaimed—"His Name Is Wonderful."
“Those words electrified me” recalled Audrey.
Audrey quickly grabbed her Bible, and searched the concordance for names given to Jesus in the Scriptures, and soon began composing “His Name Is Wonderful.”
Audrey recalls: “It often happened---the song was incomplete at first, though I was not aware of it then. But even that first part seemed to capture people’s hearts.”
It took a few more years and the aid of her friend Tim Spencer before Audrey finished the song and had it published in 1959.
Today it has gone around the world, having been translated in all major languages and bringing glory to the Lord.

Jesus is Wonderful and worthy of our praise. Today in prayer, praise the Lord for He is Wonderful.

His name is truly wonderful - Jesus My Lord. Known the song for years but never heard Carman singing it. It was great Tammy. He is quite a versitle singer.
