A lifetime of excuses why you were not there,
Everyone explaining how much you didn't care.

You replaced me with a bottle and a void of empty space,
Leaving my brother to fill my father's place.

But yet I had to raise him, help him not to fall,
ME the youngest of them all.

I pretended not to notice, but I really did;
I never closed my eyes even though I was a kid.

A kid with a lot of pain, forced to grow up too fast,
Left with just the memories of my innocent past.

Eventually you got better, and I learned to forgive.
I will never forget, and this is what I'm left with:

A lifetime of memories when you were not there,
Every single on explaining how much you didn't care,

And you were too drunk to notice that you played the part
of an alcoholic father who broke his daughter's heart.
