I worship You, Almighty God

I WORSHIP YOU, ALMIGHTY GOD Thursday - November 29, 2007

“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker” – Psalm 95:6

Sondra Corbett-Wood did not grow up in a Christian home, but she came to Christ when she was eleven and began attending a small Baptist church in Dallas, Texas.
In 1983, as a teenager, Sondra attended a Christian summer school and a pianist was needed and she volunteered. Though she didn't know most of the worship songs, Sondra played by ear and quickly picked up the new tunes.
In the subsequent weeks, she learned how to worship the Lord and began having daily devotions.
"I was learning all of these new worship songs," she remembers, "and I would go over to the music room and have quiet time with the Lord while at the piano." It was during one such devotional time that she composed “I worship you, Almighty God.”
Sondra recalls "The Living Praise team was going to go out that next day and minister at a church. I went over to one of the rooms at the music building and started praying over that service, praying for the people that would be there and worshiping the Lord. I could feel him so close."
"I started singing and what came out of my mouth was, 'I worship you, Almighty God, there is none like you,' with the chords and all. I felt Him right there and that I was revealing the contents of my heart to Him."
Sondra laughs when she relates, "While the chorus came as pure inspiration, the verses required a bit of perspiration. I wanted it to be centered around the throne room of God so the verses say, 'I come into Your courts with praise; I bow before Your throne.' They talk about the presence of the Lord."

Worship should not be a 90 minute event that occurs just once a week. It needs to be a daily expression of our love to Jesus. Today in prayer, worship Christ, Almighty God with all of your heart.

“I worship You, Almighty God, there is none like You.
I worship You, oh Prince of Peace, that is all I long to do.
I lift my hands for You are my righteousness.
I worship You, Almighty God; there is none like You.” – Sondra Corbett-Wood

God’s Word: “Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.” – Psalm 96:9
