Dear Higher Power

Dear Higher Power

Help us to remember our family and friends
as well as all of the sick, suffering addicts who have passed on this year.
May their spirit live on as we continue to carry the message
One day at a time.

Help us to remember that
Our lives were shattered --because of drugs
Our wives and kids battered --because of drugs
Nothing we did ever mattered --because of drugs
Many have died of Aids, others HIV+ after being tested --because of drugs
We had lost our will to live --because of drugs
There was nothing left to give --because of drugs
On and on the cycle went,
It seemed there was no way out.
The fear and pain was overwhelming,
We lived behind a wall of doubt.

We cried, we begged, we prayed "Dear God, please help us!"
In 1953, God heard our prayer.
He sent Jimmy K and other addicts with the 12 & 12 in Narcotics Anonymous.
Our program has grown to an incredible size,
We now have a purpose, the gleam is back in our eyes.
We've learned as long as the ties that bind us together
are stronger than those that will tear us apart- All will be well.
Addicts no longer have to live in or die and go to he!!.
Together we can knock down the walls of racism and hate.
And through our unity and love,
carry this message to every neighborhood, city, country and state.
When the heart of one addict touches another,
We are doing God's will and loving our brother.
Our gratitude truly speaks
when we care and share with each other the recovery way.
Let's continue to hug, that's how we pray.
