Help someone else work the 12 steps. Continue building character through the 10th and 11th steps.

When I took a year or two away from meetings, when I came back I felt like a newcomer and had accumulated another 4th step. I worked through the steps again and now am working with others.

The one thing that I've heard in the rooms that makes perfect sense to me is that "you never graduate from these steps".

Depending on how you look at it, that can be intimidating or comforting.

I choose to focus on the later.

Give freely what has been given to you - through sponsorship, chairing meetings, sweeping the floor, making coffee - whatever is needed.

I was told that steps 10-12 are to be done on a daily basis - I don't do much 12th-step work, but I practice 10 at night and 11 in the morning.

I was also told to do 4 through 9 on a regular (yearly?) basis, because new issues come up as we continue on with our lives. I don't know how relevant this is for folks, but I've done a few cycles since I've been clean and sober. I always find out new things about myself each time.

well I was taught and once we work them....then we live them into daily actions in our everyday lives....not just in relation to recovery and recovering people but by practicing these principals in all our affairs.

sometimes just being a living example in action is carrying a message!

people retain 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, and 95% of what they teach.

Being a sponsor has brought my recovery full circle. I cannot teach or guide someone, without practing what I teach and walking the walk myself in action.

everytime I help a sponsee through a step....it reconfirms it in my life and re-ancors it in my own actions insdie and outside of the rooms.

what a gift!

Yeah - steps 10-12 are musts everyday. I have been trying to look for ways to help others as well. It is important not to get complacent, as everyone has said. It took me almost 2 years to get through the steps with 2 relapses along the way. Now I know the value of my recovery and hopefully I will not mess it up again. But if I do (God forbid) - at least I know where to go this time!
