Hope
"Hope"
Hope is our most constant companion. We hope the pattern of things will change for the better. Even in dire circumstances hope remains when all else seems to abandon us. But even then it is a thread strong enough to hold life together. Like a cork on a net, hope keeps us from sinking in our own fears. It helps us picture the way things ought to be so we can bring them about. We cannot say anything is hopeless when so much depends on our seeing beyond barriers. Hope is a part of our natural existence. With it the door is always open. Without it, even dreams tend to perish. ---from A Cherokee Feast of Days by Joyce Sequichie Hifler, page 315 |
