A Parable I heard at a Meeting the other day

There where these-three PhDs doing a study on gratitude one day. They decided to use three rooms and three 10 year old boys. Each boy was put into one of the rooms, for 1 hour, and room 1 had all the gymnastic sets and toys and computer games, room 2 had Hot Wheels and remote control cars and other cool toys as well. But Room 3 had a pile of horse manure. Just stacks and stacks of horse manure and it was stinky and a lot of flies.

So after the hour was up the first Ph.D. went and opened the door to Room 1 and found the 10year old boy crying and pouting. The PhD. asked why he was crying and the boy replied, "Well these are not the toys I like, I am bored and I want out" The PhD labeled the boy as totally un-grateful.

In Room 2, the same prognosis; the boy was crying and said the same thing. Even after having some of the coolest toys available to him. Again Ungrateful!

Then they heard laughing and jumping coming from Room 3. They all ran over to room 3, opened the door and it was the boy in the room with the horse manure. He was doing cart-wheels and laughing and just jumping all over the place, as happy as he can be! They asked why he was so happy, even after he was locked in this room with horse manure for over an hour. And the boy just looked at them and smiled and said, "That's because I know there must be a PONY in here somewhere!"

Morale of the story: Even when things seem like crap- look for the pony in your life.
