Time issues...
Does anyone here have time issues?
I have a chronic time problem in that I'm late all of the time. This has plagued me since high school. I have struggled with this with only short periods of reprieve. Why this self-defeating behavior? What am I trying to prove by "almost" not graduating or losing jobs? Has anyone been helped with this problem? Thanks? Tab |

I would say that everybody has time issues, certainly everybody in the USA since we are so time controlled. So you must do like the rest of us and get up even when you do not want to. It takes self-discipline and self-control and then bow in servitude to the almighty clock. Everybody else has to do it and so do you. When the alarm clock rings then get up. You arrive at work 15 minutes early every day because time is valuable. Arrive early everywhere for everything, and do not leave early. If quiting or ending time is 5:00 then you leave at 5:00 and not earlier. There is no other solution. There is no short cut, no easy way around it. Just do it.

Seems like I heard somewhere that being late is sometimes a person's way of exerting control. A way of saying, "You may think you're in control here, but you're really not. I am." Especially in places and circumstances where you may feel like you have little control, it's a way for you to assert some control... sounds pretty co-dependent/ passive-aggressive/ manipulative/ resentment-based to me, but then again, maybe you're just being my mirror... ;)

I have heard the same thing - about the passive agressive part.
The only way I found valuable in breaking a habit - was the do the exact opposite of the habit - until I create a new one.....and for you that would mean - leave early and be early.....and act as if you like it - until you do. it is called contrary action...and it works for me. good luck ![]() light and love Gail

There was a time I was late frequently and I was clueless as to why. When I began recovery some time back I found out that I lived in my head a lot. I was disconnected or fragmented. It has improved a great deal with working the steps etc. Do you know why you are late? Inventory may help you here.
