Lords Prayer
Mat 6:9-13 "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
'Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 'Give us this day our daily bread. 'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]' We call this prayer "the Lords Prayer" but really it wasn't Jesus Prayer. He was telling us how we should pray and I dont think he meant for us to use it repitiously like this. Rather their are key things in this prayer to pray about like getting a word from God in a hard situation (daily bread) and forgiveness are just some of the key things in this passage of scripture. I hear this prayer often in meetings at closing time. Yet their are people that do Not even beleive in God or Jesus Christ. I think this prayer people tend to use as some magical formula. God will respond and answer formulized prayers, if that is where the person is at in his or her faith, in order to help someone. However God wants us to be real with Him, and tell Him continualy how we feel. King David is an excellent example of this which we find in the psalms. when David was angry he told God. when he was happy he exspresed it. Last notice the begining of the prayer "Our Father" is God your father? every human can claim that God is their "Creator" but not everyone can call Him Father. I have heard it said that "we are all children of God" this is not true. We are all created by God but in order to call God our father we must be in a family. Then we can call God our Father. Eph 1:5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, (NASB) Through Jesus Christ we are adopted into the family of God along with Israel which is the Natraul children by faith. since we are adopted into the family of God we also have an Inheritance and a Father.
