Day One

Just wanted to stop in. I've been in Narcotics Anonymous for almost nine months now. I've gained 50 pounds during that time, and I wasn't a lean person to begin with. Now I'm having trouble breathing, can't exercise, and my nicotine addiction had gone out of control. So today is day one to be free from nicotine. I will have to treat it just like I did my narcotic addiction for it to work this time, I think. I've quit nicotine before, lasted 12 days. I want to quit, just for today. For the next five minutes. I just take a deep breath (hard to do) when I don't think I can stand it anymore, and I remember why I'm doing this. For the same reason I quit narcotics. I want to live. Five minutes. Yeah, that's how I've got to do it, I can't think any further into the future than that. I'm really glad this forum is here.

Happy New Year, everyone!
