Hey stormwatcher,

Glad you are here, I too am an addict, I have six-teen months clean.
You are inthe right place. Stick and stay.

I would like to offer you a few sugestions; Find a twelve step group, go to meetings, find a sponsor and begin working the steps, these things will help you stay clean, and remember, you never have to use again, it is easier staying clean than getting clean.

Love you and keep coming back.

Hi stormwatcher. Glad you are here. Remember the coma and all you went through. Remember it well because drinking can lead you right back to that. Its a progressive disease, it only gets worse. Are you going through some life experience right now that has brought these feelings on? Some life experiences have affected me to this point at times and i started thinking about drinking, i would have been throwing away my recovery, but i hung on obstinently, and made it through. You are doing one of the things that helped me, reaching out and i am proud of you. I hope you have a sponsor in the program and a Higher Power that you can turn to. My Higher Power is my rock. I can relate to you, i have a mental disorder and also a sexual abuse survivor from childhood. We can do this. The Big Book says, "There are those too who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders but they too can recover if they have the ability to be honest" How cool is that ? We just have to be honest. Hang in there my friend and keep doing what you are doing by reaching out. There will be more come along later to share with you.

Hi stormwatcher
Welcome. I am cassie, grateful recovering alcoholic. Addiction has given me some health issues to deal with too. I live with them on a daily basis, a costant reminder of bad choices.

As has been said, addiction is progressive and the results can be life threatening and certainly change us in ways we have no control over. Living one day at a time, or one hour or even one minute is how we in the fellowship of recovery stay away from the drinks and the drugs. Coming here every morning sets the tone for me and places recovery at it's proper place - first!

In my humble opinion, waking up from a coma was a second chance for you to make things different. Picking up that one drink will lead right back to where you were - waking up might not be an option. Just my 2 cents. I hope I do not offend.

Please know that we share the same disease and that you do not have to be alone. This forum is full of members who are open, honest and willing to help when asked. So please keep coming back. Hoping to hear more from you.

& Stormwatcher. You never have to drink again if you go to meetings, get a sponser and work the steps. You might feel like drinking but you don't have to. Congratulations on 7 months of sobriety!
