Step 3 is so easy it is confusing. And it becomes more so when
discussed at meetings for this reason. The Step says make a decision,
nothing more or less and that decision is based on Steps 1 and 2 as
summarized on page 60 the Big Book, the a, b, c's. So the decision begins
to be carried out when Step 4 is started, continued with 5 and 6 and then we
act differently in Step 7 by practicing the opposite of our defects as
stated on pages 67 and 69 (selfish, dishonest, self-seeking, frightened,
inconsiderate). That is letting go (acting differently) with God's direction
and strength in my life, not our own. We then continue on, a day at a time
to practice this, Step 10 for today which molds our tomorrow.
