Smile new start

I am so glad that I have found you I am very new in recovery just 5 weeks. I am a single mom of three, one girl and two boys. Their ages are 5, 3, and 2, so anyone with kids can relate. Thank you all for your wonderful website. I will be sure to stop by everyday.

Welcome home Babycee

Hello, I'm kai, grateful alcoholic.

That is totally cool about you having 5 weeks!! Keep up the good work!!

I know that I can't sober up for my children, it has to be for myself, but boy do I wish I had started when they were young! I have been a single mom as well. Mine are 17, 15, and 12, two boys and a girl. I am now two and a half years sober, so they had to grow up in my disease. So we are still repairing things.

Keep coming back and ALWAYS reach out when you need help. I love and appreciate my children soooooo much more today. Not that I didn't care for them before recovery, I just couldn't love them until I loved myself. And I couldn't be there for them because my addiction was more important.

Recovery is the only place where miracles happen EVERY DAY!!!

Love ya later. Kai

Welcome babycee! Congratulations to you on 5 weeks of sobriety -- that is amazing. I do not have children myself, but I know that you are being the best mom by putting your recovery first, to the extent that you can with small children. The whole metaphor of putting on your oxygen mask first, before placing them on your children, so that you will be alive to take care of them, is very apt here. You are making a lloving commitment to yourself and to your children by taking care of yourself. Keep up the great work, keep coming back!
Love, Frannie from Atlanta, addict in recovery since 8/20/05
