HAPPINESS

HAPPINESS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Growing up in a dysfunctional family gave us little perspective on what reasonable happiness might be. We tend to overrate or underrate it, but do not see happiness as a normal part of life.

A preoccupation with incest (including denying its reality) robs us of the simple joys in living and an ordinary sense of happiness can become distorted.

We may need to remind ourself that it is okay to be happy without expecting abuse to follow. We may also need to discover that normal people do not define reasonable happiness as a constant state of euphoria. During our early healing work we may go through suffering temorarily. It gets better. A serene happiness is one which grows and deepens in us as we continue on our healing journey.
