"Growth"

"Growth"

Growth means change for the better, a moment toward health and wholeness. Although we desire healing and wholeness, the risk and change involved is very threatening to most incest survivors.

Rather than being overwhelmed at the prospect of growth, we need to remind ourself that growth comes primarily as an offering of grace which calls only for a response of willingness. Growth is a journey into new lifegiving frontiers both within and beyond us. It is not something we accomplish all at once, but one step at a time. And willingness is the first step.

Willingness opens the door to growth. Trust in a Higher Power empowers us to step through. And a network of supportive survivors encourages us to continue on the journey.

Grant me the grace to risk receiving your offer of healing growth.

-Surviving with Serenity
