Staying Sober

Sometimes my life seems so unfair,
I'm struggling to stay sober, temptations always there.
Some days are easy, when I feel great,
But there's days that I wonder If I can stay straight.
I'm trying hard to understand,
The reason I've relapsed, I need a strong hand.
I wonder why It's so tough to stay clean,
I don't want to use, "you know what I mean"?
Each day as I struggle, I won't look back,
I've made up my mind, I'm on the right track.
Users and drinkers who have lost control,
Have a disease with no cure, staying sober's their goal.
I've surrounded myself with supportive friends,
When a craving hits me I call on them.
In treatment I've learned "take one day at a time",
Trust your higher power, It won't cost a dime.
As graduation approaches, it's my time to part,
I've learned how to cope and make my new start.
As I grow stronger each passing day,
The fog I have lived in is drifting away.
