Wisely Choosing Leaders
From the Oneplace Team...
One symbol of our liberty is the privilege to choose our leaders. Although it is a simple act, voting comes with a significant impact. We are to submit to our governing authority, thus, it is imperative we first seek God's direction. He has set up the order by which we are governed, so let us honor Him by choosing people of good character and integrity. These qualities will be reflected in the fruit of their labor. "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God." Romans 13:1 Let us remember to lift our officials up in prayer, asking God to grant them wisdom, direction and, if needed, salvation. We must also remember that the believer holds the key to turning our country back to God. The Scriptural promise assures forgiveness of sin and healing in the land; however, that promise is conditional! It is not the unbeliever who must turn from evil, but the children of God, who must humble themselves, pray, seek and repent! "...if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually." 2 Chronicles 7:14-16 Let us celebrate our freedom by exercising our right to vote for those who would be seated in authority! "When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, people groan." Proverbs 29:2
