Smile can't believe how hard some little things can be

What's going on for me today? Well, its like this; I've been living with the help of the government assistance on and on again for about 15 years. And if it wasn't the government it was a man, so not on my own really ever. I'm in a position now that I've got 2 jobs!!!!My teenage daughter lives with me and I've been paying my own rent now for 2 months!!!Huge deal!!!Anyway I found myself struggling this morning. Filling out the social assistance stub and after I've declared ALL my income(something new for me as well) I found myself struggling with ticking off the box stating that I no longer need help!!!!How a little box less than a quartAer of an inch can be such a huge fear for me blows my mind. I've been so dependent on others for soooo long. I know that today I'm okay. I've got exactly enough.I'm soo amazed by this recovery gig!!! I called a friend in recovery and she stayed on the phone while I checked off the appropriate box!!!!Now that's kool! Anyway, just felt the need to share that. Thanks for being here.

hey Simplicity,

don't think we've met yet, I'm Felicity from Australia. Clean d.addict and recovering alcoholic.

YES what you've achieved is a BIG deal!!!..well done!!!....I too spent a long time dependant on our government and some time dependant on partners, and time with them dependant upon me!!!....I had no option to tick that wee box....I got caught out too so I am glad you had a friend good enough to stay with you while you did!!!! I didn't have a job to change my circ. I had a new partner and had been going it alone for quite some time and yeah was scared to let my support go.

It's sooooooo great being independant isn't it and knowing that you're capable of paying your own rent, supporting your children and living on your own income, certainly does the old self esteem a huge amount of good!!!!...

Yep, "this recovery gig" continues to amaze me also!!!!

Congraulations on "being in the space your'e in today" Top stuff!!
