A Little More AA History

When Ebby Thacher came by one day,
To call on a drunk, he began to pray,
This friend that he knew, Bill W. by name,
Disgraced his whole family and brought himself shame.

Ebby, himself , had found a new life,
No longer a drunk, no longer in strife,
He came to Bill's door, his Bible in hand,
And with his own eyes, Bill saw a new man.

When asked what had changed him, was so plain to see,
Ebby responded, " Was God that changed me!
If you want what I have, the joy and the love,
We'll humble ourselves to God that's above."

"Just ask for His help and I'll help you, too.
Together we'll both see each other through,
And, oh, by the way, when you have the time,
We'll visit Dr. Bob, another friend of mine!"

So this is our heritage from long time ago,
A program of recovery we've all come to know.
Ebby, then Bill, and Dr. Bob made three,
These first insightful men made AA History!
