Building On Bedrock

Building On Bedrock

"Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."
Matthew 7:24,25

So what kind of foundation are you building your life upon? Though Christ's Word may seem contrary to what makes sense, contrary to the "wisdom" our friends have adopted, contrary to our own desires and wishes, "the Word of Lord endures forever."

Following His Word is like building your life on bedrock. No matter what happens, if your life is built firmly on Christ's Word, there is nothing that can destroy you.

His Word is one of forgiveness and the love of God. Yes, He shows us our sin, but only to comfort us with His forgiveness. Yes, He challenges us to live lives of love, but to show us the blessedness and goodness of love, and He promises to walk with us at all times.

So be sure to "hear" His word, in worship, in sermon, in both group and personal Bible study. Believe and build your life upon His Word. Build your life on bedrock, the firm foundation!

O Lord, my mind has been filled with all kinds of wisdom for success in building a good life. Much of that wisdom is based in selfishness, greed, and human cleverness. Free my mind to consider Your Word. Capture my mind with the wisdom of Your Word. Encourage and empower me to build my life on Your Word. Amen.
